MORE than 20 Highways England schemes are being lifted or completed on motorways and major roads in the north west in time for the Bank Holiday weekend.

Across England roadworks will be lifted from today – leaving 97.4% of its 9,534-mile network free of roadworks in time for the holidays.

Roads Minister Andrew Jones said: “We do not want work to stand in the way of families during their bank holiday getaway, so I am pleased roadworks are being removed at so many locations.”

REMAINING Some roadworks must remain in place. These include M6 j33 - j35 (near Lancaster). Construction of Heysham Link Junction 34 (Lancaster) of the M6 -- closed to provide on and off slips to both the north and southbound carriageways which have been improved to meet current standards.
