THE £1million Lakeland makeover was revealed on Friday (May 27).

The Windermere store was officially unveiled by the store's longest serving employee.

The flagship store has been transformed to bring customers the latest retail technology and offer a better shopping experience.

At the centre of the store, lies a state of the art kitchen where customers can watch product demonstrations.

Malcolm King, who started working for Lakeland straight out of school and has been part of the team for almost 45 years, had the honour of cutting the ribbon.

The new store is lighter and brighter, with 3,500 slate tiles having been laid throughout the store, using more than 10 tonnes of tile adhesive.

Director of retail, Bob Granger said: "Lakeland is continuing to undertake an extensive refit programme, with many of our 69 stores up and down the country being modernised and improved with our customers in mind every step of the way.

"We’ve incorporated customer feedback and the latest technology into our new-look Windermere store and it’s incredibly exciting to be opening our doors after 12 months of planning and 5 months on site. We hope our customers will love the new shopping experience as much as we do."
