A SUCCESSFUL exchange visit took place between Kendal’s Whinfell Office Skills Project (WOSP) and Rinteln’s Lebenshilfe.

A group of 11 adults with learning disabilities and three members of staff from Lebenshilfe in Rinteln, Kendal's German twin town, stayed in self-catering accommodation in the Lake District.

During their stay the German visitors, together with their friends from WOSP, had a go at sailing on Windermere, tried local Lakeland food and played bi-lingual bingo.

The group went on a day trip to Chester and the Welsh borders and joined their WOSP friends at Jazz Dance in Kendal’s Parish Hall. Whilst in Kendal the visitors saw the mural in Rinteln Square, the direction fingerpost in the Market Square and the Peace Garden.

WOSP organised an English experience for the group by inviting them to have afternoon tea with homemade cakes, sandwiches and tea served in China cups and saucers.

Everyone made sure that there was plenty of time for one of the group’s favourite activities – shopping.A small group from WOSP will be taking part in Rinteln’s Christmas market in December.
