POLLING day has finally arrived and guidance has been issued to those voting in the EU referendum today.
Throughout South Lakeland there are 92 voting polling stations, opens from 7am until 10pm.
Those registered to vote should have received a poll card telling them where their polling station is located.
People do not need this card to vote. However, if it has been lost or not received then contact South Lakeland District Council should be contacted to find out which polling station to use.
Once in the polling booths, voters will be required to answer the following question: 'Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?’
Once the vote is completed, the count will take place overnight at Kendal Leisure Centre and the South Lakeland voting area totals will be announced on Friday morning.
As of yesterday (June 22), the final electorate for SLDC was 81,940 and the total number of postal votes issued was 20,223 - an increase of about 2,500 on the 'normal' level.
SLDC believes that the election has been much busier than usual in terms of registrations, postal voters and proxies,
The council's electoral services team will be available until 9pm tonight for anyone experiencing problems.
