A PUBLIC consultation calling on villagers to identify locally important historic buildings and structures in the Arnside & Silverdale AONB is being run by Lancaster City Council.

It will run until Wednesday July 6 and will help the council identify and record important local heritage assets, and be a valuable resource when making planning decisions in the future.

And the Arnside & Silverdale AONB Partnership is hoping that people who know the Silverdale, Warton and the Yealands area will help it to record important and distinctive features of the historic landscape.

It would like to know about limekilns, bee boles, water troughs and milk churn stands, as well as buildings; which while not significant enough to be recorded on the National Heritage List for England are still very important locally, and contribute to the overall character of the area.

A draft list has already been compiled, and the council would appreciate comments on those sites already nominated, but is particularly interested in help identifying lesser known structures around the area.
