A WINDERMERE accountant has joined a board of a leading industry body.
Andrew Pow has been selected to sit on the Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants (AISMA) committee.
With a campaigning background, he will assist government lobbying on the organisation's behalf and the voluntary role will include advising on financial issues including the problems faced by GP practices.
Andrew has previously campaigned to highlight the funding issues facing small GP practices in isolated areas.
He has worked since 2014 in liaising with MP Tim Farron and lobbying NHS England and politicians.
This has helped to bring about a government review of the way in which funds are allocated to small isolated rural practices.
Andrew is also involved in providing financial training for GP’s and works with local commissioning groups.
He said: "Funding is central to the future of the NHS and, as medical accountants, we are well placed to contribute to the debate.
"I was delighted that my previous efforts in lobbying on behalf of small isolated rural practices has led to a government review and we are currently awaiting the outcome. I look forward to taking up the role with AISMA and speaking up on future issues."
