THE largest boating show in the North of England to get underway in Windermere this weekend.

The first show to celebrate boating in the Lake District will take place from Friday to Sunday.

The Windermere Boat Show will bring together local businesses and clubs to showcase just what the boating community has to offer – displaying everything from kayaks to 40ft cruisers.

Visitors will be able to step on onboard motor and sailing boats from international brands such as Sealine, Jeanneau, Hanse and Beneteau and sports boats from Four Winns, Bayliner and Brigg.

And, whether seasoned sailors or novices, there’s something for everyone.

There will be taster sessions for visitors to enjoy guided kayak trips around Belle Isle and try their hand at stand up paddle boarding.

And, the crowds will be wowed with a Flyboard display by Low Wood Watersports.

Jason Dearden, managing director of Shepherds Marine and Windermere Marina Village, said: “I am absolutely delighted that for the first time Windermere’s boating community will be brought together in one location in what promises to be a great weekend.

“This is an opportunity for anyone to come and experience Windermere and chat to boat brokers and adventure providers about everything from kayaks to 40ft motor cruisers.”

Organisers hope that it will inspire more people – locals and tourists alike - to get involved in water-based activities.

The event, which takes place from 10am-5pm July 1-3, will be based at the new Ferry Nab Marina, where there will be both water and shore-based displays of new and used boats alongside marine suppliers and boat clubs from around Windermere.

Entry is free and within walking distance of the main event there will be more than 150 new and boats on display at various locations including Windermere Marina and Windermere Quays – making it the largest in the North of England.
