CUMBRIAN residents can make their views on the future of mental health care in Kendal both online and in person.

Following the news that Westmorland General Hospital's mental health ward may close, Healthwatch Cumbria have decided to host a drop-in event and have created an online survey.

Patients, carers and the community will be able to give their views on the Kentmere Ward and the service that it provides.

The drop in event will be held today (June 30) between 1-7pm at South Lakes Foyer, Yard 95, Stricklandgate, Kendal.

Senior clinicians from the Trust will be on hand throughout the day to talk to members of the community and their views will be independently recorded by Healthwatch Cumbria who will then present a report to the Trust Board of Directors.

The survey can be accessed until 5pm on July 8 at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/kentmere
