TWO Dallam sixth form students are celebrating after achieving high International Baccalaureate results.
Hannah Lawson, from Preston Patrick, gained 43 out of a potential maximum of 45 points and is expecting to gain a place at St John's College, Cambridge in 2017 to study Human, Social and Political Sciences.
Prior to that, she will be spending a year in South Africa volunteering with the Tear Fund, a leading charity working world-wide to tackle the causes and effects of poverty.
Meanwhile, Eleanor Phillipson, from Grange-over-Sands, is hoping to study for Primary Teaching at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Dallam students scored a pass rate of 93 per cent - against a world pass rate of 81 per cent - which means the school continues to rank amongst the top 10 per cent worldwide
Head teacher William Bancroft said: "We are delighted with these results which reflect a great deal of ability, time and hard work from the students. The IB is an extremely rigorous qualification which involves the study of six academic subjects including mathematics, English and a foreign language as well as the Theory of |Knowledge, an extended essay and community service.
"To pass the diploma, students need to achieve the equivalent of Bs and above at A Level but in six subjects rather than three. The IB is recognised across the world and we are very proud that our students perform so well".
