A CANCER survivor completed a coast to coast walk in often atrocious conditions and raised £1,500 for charity.
David Stephenson, 52, from Old Hutton, trekked 198-miles from St Bee's to Robin Hood’s Bay for CancerCare North Lancashire and South Lakeland.
Mr Stephenson, who had an operation last year to help him overcome prostate cancer, said: “I was giving back to CancerCare for the work they have done for me and the help they have given me over the last few years.”
He made the journey with his brother John, 60, who raised £600 for Marie Curie. They encountered a thunderstorm on Helvellyn and thick fog in North Yorkshire.
“My family was very supportive”, Mr Stephenson said. “My wife and children trained with me.”
Mr Stephenson now plans to complete a nine-mile Cross Bay Challenge for CancerCare on Saturday August 7.
