ONE month on after the referendum, a pro-EU youth group will get together to try and beat the Brexit blues.
Young Cumbrians for Europe, which consists of four people between the ages of 17 and 20, wants both Cumbria and their generation to have the best possible post-Brexit outcome.
Lucas Helaine-Watson, one of the members of the group, said: “In the wake of the Brexit result young Cumbrians need to do something to get the best deal for our area.
“There is a lot of talk of xenophobia around here and what we want to achieve is to change those attitudes and get people more willing to have a better relationship with Europe despite the referendum result.”
The members of the group met online after each of them expressed their opinions concerning the referendum result - and now want to establish an optimistic, informal and inclusive movement of under 35s in Cumbria.
The group will meet at Burgundy’s Brewhouse & Kitchen in Kendal on July 23 at 7pm.
The event has a Facebook page, which can be found at: www.facebook.com/events/1638204453163290/
