A KENDAL architects has been recognised with a regional award.
O'Neil Associates won the 'best individual new home' category in the recent Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Northern Building Excellence Awards.
Maple Grove, in Endmoor, was the building that cinched the award for the architects.
Bob O'Neil, an architect within the firm, said that it was a 'real feather in the cap' for the company.
"It shows three or four local companies working together," he said. "And it shows South Lakeland is a place where we can do interesting and innovative things."
As well as showing that they could successfully work with South Lakeland District Council building control, the award was given to the architects based on the quality and design of Maple Grove.
The architects brief was for a new home that 'resonated with the modern movement' and it has low energy use.
Dawn McQuillan, Chair of LABC Northern Region, said: “These awards are an opportunity for us to celebrate the very best construction in the north of England, recognising the high level of skill and professionalism the building industry is capable of reaching.
"The awards demonstrate that local authority building control provides a high quality service to many of the region's finest construction professionals."
