VILLAGERS in Clapham made the most of the fine weather to enjoy one of the village's most enduring traditions - Clapham Street Fair.

And this year a group of refugees currently based in Blackburn went along to see what makes the event so special.

They were welcomed under the auspices of the Bentham Area Refugee Support Group, while representatives of the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice also made an appearance.

They saw traditional morris dancing, the renowned duck race and more than 60 beautifully turned-out vintage motors in the Classic Cars Rally and enjoyed the music of Dales Jam at the fair, which is the main annual fund-raising event for St James's Church.

Many other local charities and community groups were able to raise cash, while there were a record-breaking 472 bacon butties sold on the day.
