REPRESENTATIVES from more than 100 South Lakeland companies attended a free business event hosted by search engine giant Google and South Lakeland District Council.

In two presentations, advice was given on how to make websites that stand out on computers and mobile devices, as well as to learn about digital marketing and how to use online marketing tools.

James Morris, of Taxis Kendal, said: "I found it very useful and gained lots of good ideas, particularly around the importance and types of social media.

“I would definitely recommend the event and found the handy digital booklets, which were given out by email, very useful."

Matt Williams, project officer for SLDC’s economic development team, said: "We were delighted to host this free Google event and to see so many South Lakeland businesses in attendance.

"Events such as this are important in providing our business community with a competitive advantage. This was an excellent opportunity to hear from experts and for businesses to have their questions answered."

Anybody who could not attend on the day can see the presentations on the Invest in South Lakeland website (www.investinsouthlaklend.co.uk), while there are also more online resources available on the Google Digital Garage website (https://digitalgarage.withgoogle.com)
