A DRUNKEN thug who assaulted his partner and her teenage daughter during a Cumbrian seaside resort holiday has been jailed.

Carl Wrighton, 44, punched his then girlfriend in the jaw as an hour-long row at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks in Arnside turned violent.

Moments earlier, Wrighton had grabbed the woman's daughter by the shoulders and vowed to hurl her out of a hotel room window.

Carlisle Crown Court was told that as Wrighton made the chilling threat, he told the terrified 13-year-old he would "watch her head smash open on the pavement".

Staff and fellow guests who saw the two female victims after the February 19 incident reported that both were "distraught and hysterical".

Wrighton was sentenced today (MON) by Judge Barbara Forrester. He had previously admitted charges of common assault and threatening to kill the teenager.

Judge Forrester gave an immediate two-year prison term to Wrighton, of Stone, Staffordshire.

The judge said of his conduct towards the younger victim: "It was bad enough for her to see her mother being shouted at and assaulted.

"But for her to be a victim herself is very serious indeed."
