A MAN who fractured another male's cheekbone during an incident in Kendal is to be sentenced next month.

Christopher Miles Boon, 36, had initially denied attacking Alan Ure in the town on November 19 last year.

But today, as he was about to stand trial at Carlisle Crown Court, Boon changed his plea and admitted causing Mr Ure grievous bodily harm.

Kim Whittestone, mitigating, told the short hearing: "I think both parties agree there had been some background between the defendant and the complainant in this case. There were issues raised on that day."

Miss Whittlestone added: "He (Boon) struck once - not a full force blow - but struck once to the complainant, causing the injury. After that one blow he left the scene."

The barrister's request for a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the probation service was accepted by Judge Barbara Forrester, who adjourned the case for three weeks.

Boon, of Mossghyl, Kendal, is due to be sentenced at the crown court on September 20.

In the meantime he was remanded on bail. A condition is that he should not contact Mr Ure either directly or indirectly.
