KENDAL-based acoustic band Northern Sky will play a charity show in Kendal later this month to raise money for South Lakeland Carers.

Law firm Harrison Drury is sponsoring the gig at Kendal Town Hall in a show of support for one of its directors, John Osborne, who is a guitarist, lyricist and vocalist with the quintet.

South Lakeland Carers provides a range of support services to local people who look after loved ones at home and the charity now supports over 1,000 carers. The charity provides services such as counselling and relaxation therapies to enable carers to stay healthy and able to look after those in their care.

John, a family lawyer at Harrison Drury’s Lancaster office, said: “People who care for loved ones at home are the forgotten members of our society. They do an amazing job, but they often have nobody to look out for their own physical and mental well-being, even if it’s just a friendly voice to talk to.

“South Lakeland Carers provides that valuable and vital service. This is a great opportunity for us to play a local gig that will support the excellent work done by the charity.”

John Chesworth, managing director of Harrison Drury, added: “John’s a skilled musician and he’s even helped us start our own band within the firm to play at staff events. When John asked if we could support this event, we were only too happy to help. It’s a night we’re all looking forward to immensely.”

Northern Sky have become one of the region’s best known bands on the circuit with seven of their songs being broadcast on radio as part of BBC Introducing, which supports undiscovered and unsigned musicians.

The charity show takes place on September 30 between 7:30pm-11pm.

Tickets for the event are £7, which includes a free glass of wine from the ‘Harrison Drury Bar’.

All proceeds will go to South Lakeland Carers.

Tickets can also be obtained by calling John on 01524 544160 or Janice Benson at South Lakeland Carers on 01539 815970.
