Police have confirmed that a motorcyclist involved in a collision on the A590 on Friday (September 2) died in hospital yesterday evening (Tuesday).

The 41-year-old man, from the Bristol area, was airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital with multiple injuries after colliding with a car at around 2pm on the A590 at Gilpin Bridge.

The family are being supported by a specially trained officer.

The 78-year-old driver of the car, a red Citroen Picasso, was also taken to hospital following the collision. The woman, from Grange-over-Sands, was discharged on Monday after suffering serious injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact PC 396 Mark Jesson of the Mobile Support Group at Kendal on 101.
