THERE were some outstanding displays at the 68th annual Over Kellet and District Horticultural Show in spite of the rain and winds experienced in the weeks leading up to the event.

A hand crafted wooden locomotive and an enormous pumpkin were a just few of the exhibits on show.

Brian Noon won the most horticultural prizes and Margaret Western was awarded the trophy for the best horticultural exhibit in the show.

The show was well attended and organisers said it was particularly pleasing that so many novice gardeners had a go at showing their produce, teaching the old hands a thing or two by winning some of the classes.

As always the show was well supported by national and local businesses. This year Thompson and Morgan, the seed and plant specialists, donated vouchers for the raffle, and many local businesses supported the production of the show schedule through their advertising.
