GIANT gourds of all shapes and sizes were grown by villagers eager to win prizes at the annual Underbarrow Marrow Day.
Organisers praised the "autumn holiday atmosphere" at the traditional charity fundraiser - a highlight of the village calendar - held at the Punchbowl pub.
Maggie Stockdale, Marrow Day committee secretary - who won the prize for ugliest marrow - said the event once again attracted generous support.
A cheque for £1,500 was donated by committee chairman Charlie Johnson to Macmillan Cancer Support, represented by Sue McDonald, who came along with her grandson Joe to join in the fun.
John Veevers judged the marrows while Ken and Sue Slater inspected the children's competition of an animal made from vegetables.
Marie Parker coordinated the dog show, and the popular day also featured a duck race, hog roast, WI competitions and home-baked cakes.
