A MAN has been ordered to carry out community work after stealing four bags of dog food from a Kendal shop.
Kevin Brown, 54, pleaded guilty at South Cumbria Magistrates Court to taking the food from Kendal's Pets at Home store on Queen Katherine's Avenue on May 2.
In mitigation, John Batty said: "He had a domestic argument and wasn't thinking straight. He's walked past the point of payment and drove off. He says he's extremely sorry and embarrassed."
Brown, of Hawthorne Grove, Carlisle, was ordered to complete 60 hours of unpaid work. He was also told to pay compensation of £127.46, costs of £85, and a victim surcharge of £85.
