A FREE-range hen house proposed for a farm near Nether Kellet has been rejected.
The new chicken shed and access point at a field off Kirkby Lonsdale Road, near Addington, would "have an adverse impact on the setting of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty", decided Lancaster City Council planners. They unanimously refused the plans by WA Agriculture Ltd.
Nether Kellet Parish Council had made no objections to the plans, but Over Kellet Parish Council raised strong objections about potential smells and pollution, as did many residents.
