A 'MODEL' village is making its way to Coniston next month.

Fair Coniston will feature workshops, talks and a dining room - the idea is to encourage people to make things collectively and creatively.

The fair will use glut crops from local gardeners and allotments to make meals, workshops will include ones in pottery, textiles and pickling.

The model village will even have its own button based currency - buttons can be purchased or made onsite and used to buy any of the items for sale from lunches to books and craft objects.

The project was originally created for the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin, where it included large-scale structures and a growing field of courgettes.

The fair will take place at Coniston Institute Hall from October 20-November 6.
