THE hospital radio station serving North Lancashire and South Lakeland has been presented with a grant of almost £10,000 to refurbish and create a brand new state-of-the-art studio.

Bay Trust Radio, which broadcasts from Westmorland General Hospital, Kendal, obtained the grant from The Big Lottery Fund (Awards for All) and the £9,731 will be used to completely revamp the studio and station infrastructure.

The studio has been used continuously since 1991 when the station moved from the Westmorland County Hospital to Westmorland General Hospital.

Danny Frith, Deputy Station Manager, said “This is a huge opportunity for the station to grow and push forward with the most up to date and sophisticated technology available. It means that our volunteers will be training in an environment that matches that of professional studio set-ups across the country.”

Bay Trust Radio is looking for new volunteers in a range of areas of the station. Whether you are looking to present a show, visit the wards and collect requests or even become a roving reporter. No experience is necessary as full training will be given. For more information call 0330 223 0056 or visit baytrustradio.org.uk and click ‘Join Us’.
