KENDAL Town disappointed on Tuesday night after they lost 3-0 to Clitheroe at The Pye Motors Stadium.

The Mintcakes struggled against a very impressive, and energetic Clitheroe side who themselves were keen to impress after a faltering start to their league campaign.

Kendal were almost in front in the first minute when Olli Wood fired the ball wide of the left hand post after the pacy striker found himself clean through on goal.

However Clitheroe responded and were ahead after just five minutes when a corner in from the left was headed home by the captain Daniel Brady.

The visitors continued to dominate and were the better side as they passed the ball around with ease, while Kendal kept giving the ball away.

The Lancashire outfit went 2-0 ahead on the 22nd minute after a quick counter attack caught Kendal out before a clinical ball across the box by Dimitri Tuanzebe fell to the feet of Joseph Mitchell who slotted the ball home from close range.

Clitheroe almost added a third in the 25th minute after Brad Knox saw his effort go wide of the post, while Kendal's Adam Freeland saw his header saved by Chris Thompson.

Kendal while they struggled continued to create with Wood's angled shot falling wide of the post, before Clitheroe's Gareth Roberts cleared another Wood effort off the line.

Wood was unfortunate not to score on the stroke of half time after he saw effort on goal rebound off the post, as Clitheroe went in at the interval 2-0 ahead.

The theme continued after the break as Clitheroe maintained their dominance in the second half and made it 3-0 five minutes into the second period when Brad Carroll scored from close range. Carroll capitalised on two assists by Mitchell and Alex Newby.

The visitors could have caused further damage with Tuanzabe and Newby seeing their opportunities go wide of the post.

Kendal battled away as Paul Dugdale saw his shot blocked by Thompson in the Clitheroe goal after the midfielder was left one on one with the keeper, while Danny Forbes blazed the ball over the bar from distance.

Matt Dudley had a goal ruled out for offside, before Clitheroe saw the game out with ease on a disappointing night, as Kendal travel to Ossett Albion on Saturday as they aim to bounce back.
