CANAL enthusiast Colin Ogden and his Owd Lanky Boaters Group of more than 15 volunteers spent the weekend clearing an overgrown section of the Lancaster Canal.
The work on the canal bed at Larkrigg Hall, Natland, near followed recent strimming and cutting of bushes and self-seeded trees on the canal at Sedgwick by the parish council.
Frank Sanderson, of the Friends of Lancaster Canal, said that "extensive ecological and botanical investigation" was carried out beforehand.
He described the works as "a memorable move forward in keeping the canal bed clear".
