A KNIFE-wielding Kendal woman who threatened a man believing he was washing his motorbike too loudly has been sentenced by a judge.

Paula McIntyre, 39, directed a tirade of abuse towards Nathan Woof as he power-hosed the machine at his workplace in the town at 7.50am.

Carlisle Crown Court heard that from her nearby home, McIntyre yelled: "You have woken me up by washing your pride and joy."

She threatened to slash the bike tyres before storming into the industrial yard and waving the 20cm blade in a temper. No damage was caused but Mr Woof was left fearing for his safety.

McIntyre was sentenced having admitted possessing a bladed article and a public order offence on August 8. It was said she had been going through a "tough time" when she committed the crimes.

McIntyre, of Aynam Road, received a four-month prison sentence which was suspended for a year. She must also comply with a rehabilitation activity requirement.

Recorder Philip Curran told her: "You became angry, really angry beyond what would have been a reasonable response to the sound of somebody waking you on a morning."
