poppy appeal
THE Royal British Legion has announced its plans to launch Cumbria's Poppy Appeal.
Open-top buses carrying special guests, VIPs and dignitaries will tour the county on October 27.
Two buses, one starting in Barrow and the other in Carlisle, will meet together in Penrith to mark the launch as the Legion looks to raise £41million from this year's appeal.
The bus travelling from the south will visit the Coronation Hall, Ulverston (9.45am - 10.45am); Kendal Market Place (11.15am - 11.45am); Joss Lane car park, Sedbergh (12.15pm - 13.15pm) and Appleby Moot Hall (14.15pm -14.45pm).
