I WILL say from the start that I didn’t want to write this article. Why? What was I afraid of? Shadows. Memories. Failures.
Since I joined St Mary’s Church at Allithwaite, there has been one new adventure after another, none of which I have wanted to take part in. BUT the Lord had other ideas. I knew that if I wanted to experience all He had for me I would have to
listen, obey and trust. So I decided to take the first step. After all, I knew all the Bible verses about how He would always be with me so what was there to fear?
Hmm.
Hearing on Premier Christian Radio about a book called 'If you want to walk on water, you’ve got to get out of the boat' by John Ortberg, I bought it. I wasn’t sure about the 'walking on water' bit but I knew I had to get out of the safety of my boat!
From then on I considered each situation that frightened me. I have to say that the Lord pushed, prodded and, at times, even shoved me in! Each time I said, “Lord, if You want me to do this, I’m relying on You to be there with me,” and, of course, He was.
So why have I written this article? I’ve written it because there may be others feeling like this. If God can work this miracle in me He can do the same for anyone! Go on, take that first step of faith and see what He will do.
Sue Wymer, Allithwaite
