A THIRTY-year-old teaching assistant who grew up in Kendal hopes to raise awareness of slavery by auctioning off two days of unpaid work during the October half-term holiday.

Holly Jackson, who works with children with special educational needs in County Durham, has set up an online auction at www.jumblebee.co.uk/slaveforaday

Her hope is to raise the profile of the charity Anti-Slavery International.

"It would be fun to try my hand at something new, but this isn't about me, this is about raising money and awareness to help end slavery," said Holly.

Holly, who is married to Chris, attended Castle Park Primary School and Queen Katherine School, in Kendal. Before moving away aged 20, she spent a year at Kendal College and worked at the Shakespeare Inn and Highgate Hotel.

Holly added: "Whether you're a ordinary person like me who needs some childcare over half-term, or you are a company who wants to help end slavery and get an enthusiastic volunteer for a day, please place your bid and put me to work."
