Her Majesty the Queen has sent her best wishes to a Milnthorpe dance school, which is staging a showcase event this weekend.

Jayne Mills, of Rigney Bank Ballet School, is holding her eighth production at Kendal Leisure Centre, entitled 'Best of Britain'.

The dancers have been training for six months for the performances and many of the costumes have been handmade for the dancers locally.

The event will showcase the work of Miss Jayne's talented dancers (age three - adult). There will also be dancing by some of her advanced dancers, who train with her as well as elsewhere.

They include Anna-May, aged 10, who is in her third year as a Junior Associate at Elmhurst Ballet School in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, and Elise, aged 16, who is training at CAT Lowry Manchester weekly and The Hammond and Ludus once a month.

Ms Mills wrote to the Queen to tell her about the event and has received a letter that says Her Majesty 'sends her best wishes to all those performing in the show for a most enjoyable event'.

The event will be held at 2pm and 7pm on Saturday (October 22) and Sunday (October 23).
