A FORMER Kendal resident had a triple celebration as she marked her 100th birthday.

Dora Green spent nearly 20 years living at Kent Court to be near her daughter and son-in-law following the death of her husband, Reg, in 1995.

Originally from Warrington, Dora was born on September 24, 1916, and in her younger years spent time as a seamstress and was later a housewife caring for her children Robin and Wendy.

A first celebration was held for Dora in August when family based in Vancouver, Canada, came to visit. On her special day another party was held in Warrington with the rest of her six grandchildren and and 11 great children shared the moment with her. A final event was organised by staff at the Warrington care home in which Dora has resided for the past 12 months.

Son-in-law John Dobson said: "After three birthday celebrations and a telegram from the queen, Dora now intends to put her feet up and relax."
