A HOMELESS burglar who repeatedly targeted a Lake District cafe has appeared before a judge.

Wayne Wojewoda, 45, stole cash and hundreds of pounds worth of food from the Cafe in the Courtyard, Far Sawrey.

Wojewoda broke into the family-run venture on several occasions in the dead of night, using a tea towel to wipe away his fingerprints before fleeing.

But he was caught red-handed on the premises after the proprietors installed CCTV in a bid to catch the thief.

Wojewoda appeared at Carlisle Crown Court when information about his offences was revealed. He had admitted one burglary - committed last month - and also asked for four other break-ins to be taken into consideration.

Wojewoda, of no fixed address, is now due to learn his fate at the crown court on November 18. In the meantime he was remanded in custody.
