REGISTERED GP surgery users are being encouraged to help design and run their local health and social care services.

Those registered in Milnthorpe, Arnside, Bentham, Kirkby Lonsdale and Sedbergh have been invited to get involved in the design and running of their local health and social care services at a public community event next month.

The meeting will allow members of the community to talk with health professionals about how to make the area a happy and healthy place to live by being part of Integrated Care Community (ICC).

Dr William Lumb, a GP from Sedbergh who is also involved in the ICC said: “An Integrated Care Community (ICC) is a team of patients and public, health and care professionals and third sector organisations that work together to address the care needs of a community.

“Other communities within the Morecambe Bay area have held similar public events. For example in Carnforth after one of these meetings a community choir has been formed as has a leg ulcer café and a serenity café.”

The event will take place on November 10 between 6pm and 7.30pm at the Junction 36 Auction Market, near Crooklands.
