POLICE have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in relation to a number of distraction burglaries.

There have been five reports of burglary in Cumbria which police believe are connected. Three have occurred at retail premises in Kendal, one in Penrith and one in Carlisle. The incidents in Kendal and Carlisle occurred on 14th October. The incident in Penrith occurred a day earlier. The stores were:

  •          Spurrett Optometry in Kendal.
  •          Bagot Opticians in Kendal.
  •          Kendal Picture Framers.
  •          International Collection in Carlisle.
  •          Flower Designs in Penrith.

Each incident involves an offender entering a shop and speaking to a member of staff stating that his mother has left her walking stick upstairs for him to collect on her behalf. Whilst the staff member is distracted the offender takes money out of the till before leaving.

Anyone who recognises the individual, or has any information about these incidents, should contact PC 2300 Dave Edwards on 101.
