AS children dress up and prepare their speeches for nativity plays across Cumbria, one zoo is going a step further.

Not only does South Lakes Safari Zoo in Dalton-in-Furness have live reindeer, visitors will also have the chance to feed the Three Kings’ camels for the first time this Christmas.

It’s just one of the many Christmas attractions at the attraction, which has a traditional nativity with a storyteller and live donkeys; winter wonderland; Santa’s grotto and steam train.

Zoo founder David Gill said: “We have thousands of families from Kendal and across Cumbria who visit here every year so we thought we’d put on something a little different this Christmas with the chance to see reindeer and feed camels and giraffes too.”

Entrance to the zoo is free until February 28 with the purchase of a £6 wristband which allows adults and children to feed the animals and other activities.

The zoo has more than 1,000 animals and opens all year round.
