A MUSICAL comedy trio from Kendal is hoping to raise a smile after releasing a music video with a focus on reptiles.

The Wyld has released 'Snakes', a song that tells the tale of one of its members' dislike for the slithering creatures.

Sean Moore, the lead singer of the group, said that the idea for the song came during a shift with his co-worker and now bandmate Richard Ferris, who now works at Greggs in Kendal.

"Richard and I were just working together," he said. "We did eight or nine hour days next to each other sorting through dirty laundry at Sunlight and it was just one of those things. We were always making up silly songs and he came up with this: 'I don't like snakes' and he started dancing. It just came from there."

The 31-year-old used to perform as a solo artist, often singing at the Olde Fleece Inn in Kendal.

"I entered a competition in 2012 and somehow won it and from there I won a prize to go to a studio and made a few songs," he said. "We just started making videos on YouTube.

"In the last year and a half I stopped because I became a dad and had less time."

Sean, Richard Ferris and James Procter recorded the 'Snakes' song six months ago but it was over the past two months that they started filming the music video.

"We went to Kendal Castle, the Helm and the fishmongers (on Stramongate) to do the film," Sean said. "It's mostly people from Kendal and people that we know in Kendal that are going to watch it."

Sean, who currently works in the Westmorland Shopping Centre, said although the band has not got any gigs lined up he hopes that there will be opportunities to perform in the new year.

"The main thing was to at least make people laugh," he said. "We are not trying to write really, really serious songs, it's more the lighter-hearted stuff. We don't mind laughing at ourselves. We'll leave the serious stuff to Adele!"
