The accolade came from the International Property Awards to recognise excellence in the property industry and to promote an international standard.

Ben Cunliffe said: “None of this would be possible without the support of both my family and the Lake District National Park Authority.

“We have a great working relationship with the team at LDNPA. They have supported our progressive designs over the last 15 years which incorporate local materials and are built by local trades.

We specialise in sustainable architecture which sits well within our very special landscape.

“I feel exceptionally fortunate to have been championed by my family who own the fabulous Gilpin Hotel and Lake House.”

Mr Cunliffe worked closely with his family designing and project managing the five new Spa Lodges, which opened to guests in January 2016.

Each larch-clad eco pod has an open plan bedroom, bathroom and a private en-suite spa.

The Spa Lodges are highly insulated with environmentally monitored heat control.

They are surrounded by a Cumbrian slate walled garden and project off the ground with views over the Lake District landscape. Features also include fires, electric blinds and a state-of-the-art music system.
