A man has been sentenced to three years in prison after being caught with drugs by officers in Barrow.

Ryan Todd, 25, of Dewham Close, Bolton, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court yesterday (January 10) after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Officers stopped Todd on August 23 of last year in the Ferry Road area of Barrow, and searched him under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

He was found to have 44 wraps of brown and white substances in his clothing – later identified as cocaine and heroin.

Sergeant Jamie Eaton of the South Area Drugs Squad said: “This is yet another example that shows Cumbria Police will not tolerate those involved with drugs. Drug suppliers like Todd who come from out of the area cause real damage to not just the individuals they deal with but to our wider communities. I am pleased to see that he has been today been removed from our streets.”
