A LAKE District vicar is inviting couples to renew their marriage vows on the eve of St Valentine's Day.
Rev Shanthi Thompson, priest-in-charge of Staveley, Ings and Kentmere, is hoping husbands and wives will come along to the special service at St James' Church, Staveley, on Sunday, February 12 at 2pm - no matter how old their marriage is, or where they tied the knot.
Couples are welcome to bring along friends and family, to share their wedding photos and to enjoy an afternoon tea served by members of the Mothers' Union.
If you would like to attend, contact Mrs Thompson by emailing staveleyvicarage@gmail.com with your names, when and where you married, what hymns and Bible readings you had, and what was extra special about the day.
"John and I renewed our vows in 2000 and again when we'd been married 25 years," said Mrs Thompson. "It's a lovely chance, not because you've forgotten, just to remind yourself of the seriousness of what you promised to each other."
