TALENTED music students enjoyed their first taste of performing for an audience during Kirkbie Kendal School's Clash of the Acts event.

The ever-popular contest was renamed this year, from Battle of the Bands, to encourage a wider variety of musicians, and the winners were vocal duo Isabella Akers and Hannah McKee, of Year 10.

In second place was the band Short Curly Chipmonk, comprising Matt Hayton, Alex Watkins &and Jedd Bennett, of Year 11; while Adam Stansfield of Year 7 came third.

Yasmin Trickett, one of the BTEC level 3 music students who organised the event, said: "We wanted to put on a talent competition to include many more of the highly talented students at our school, in an event where they can showcase their talent and feel proud of their achievement."

Lakeland Radio DJ Simon Yaxley, a good friend of the school, was the guest judge in the school hall.
