A team of volunteers from the Clapham-based organisation made their way up to the injured man, who was helped part of the way down by fellow walkers. He was said to be in "considerable pain" at this stage of the rescue.
The rescue team partly carried and partly 'sledged' him to its Land Rover, which was parked below Trow Gill.
The man was taken to Clapham, where he was transferred to an ambulance which took him to hospital.
