A DRUNKEN man who stole a colouring book from a shop in Kendal's Westmorland Shopping Centre has been fined by magistrates.
South Cumbria Magistrates' court heard that Carl Simon, 43, of Hallgarth Circle, was seen on CCTV picking up the book from Rymans and leaving without making any attempt to pay.
The court heard that when questioned by police he was unable to remember the event, on December 8, due to his level of intoxication.
Simon admitted that he had been drinking heavily and was struggling with mental health issues at the time.
District Judge Gerald Chalk fined Simon £75 and ordered that he pay £14.99 compensation. He must also pay £85 in costs.
