FILM fans can look forward to a week of cutting-edge Japanese films at Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre.

The event runs from March 10 to 18 and is part of the Japan Foundation's touring film programme.

Fifteen cinemas across the UK will host special screenings, including A Stitch of Life, The Wailing and The Mohican Comes Home.

The film week will be launched with a Japanese sake tasting event in The Brewery’s Warehouse Café on March 10 at 6pm which will hosted by an expert in the fiery spirit and accompanied by a mouth-watering selection of Japanese food.

Brewery film programmer Chris Ashton said: “We are delighted to be one of only 15 cinemas across the UK to be supporting Japanese Film Week as it demonstrates our commitment to provide a diverse and exciting specialist cinema offer for South Lakeland and beyond.“
