A KENDAL woman celebrated her 65th birthday by cutting off her hair and donating it to Little Princess Trust.

Wendi Lethbridge, who has been growing her hair for over 50 years, will be giving away the hair and raising money for the charity to make it into a wig for a child who suffers from cancer.

Her friend, local artist and hairdresser Zoe Baker, did the honours, cutting off 12 inches of Wendi's hair.

Wendi said: "I wanted to do something special for my birthday. I had to do it now before I go grey because they can't take hair that has grey in it.

"The donations we have had already have been really amazing. We need to raise £350 for it to be made into a wig and we had people putting money in before I had done it."

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Wendi has already beaten her target of £350, but donations can still be made at https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/wendihaircut#.WJSI9CVIlvQ.facebook
