KIRKOSWALD progressed into the semi finals of the Senior Challenge Cup after a dramatic penalty shoot out win over Appleby.

Both sides were all square at 2-2 with Kirkoswald on the score sheet through Robbie White and Chris Tuer

However nothing could separate the sides before Kirkoswald edged the penalty shoot out 4-3.

In the Westmorland Football League it was all about the cups as the High Sheriffs, Mason and Freeman and Peter Daws Memorial competitions all kicked into action.

In the High Sheriffs Cup, Keswick powered their way into the next round with an emphatic 7-1 home win over Ibis. Richard Bannister scored a hat trick, while Declan Robinson, Lewis Cumber, Steve Hindmarch and Andy Rigg were also on target.

In the other ties, Kendal United routed Penrith Reserves 4-0, Matt Kennedy with a brace, while Matt Regan and Danny Craig also found the net.

Pirelli progressed in a high-scoring 8-4 win at Ambleside United, while Niall Renwick and an own goal edged Wetheriggs United into the next round in a narrow 2-1 win over Windermere.

The Mason and Freeman Cup proved just as entertaining as Adam Soulby's brace was enough for Endmoor who defeated Carleton Banks 2-1.

Jordan Archer-Nelson's brace helped Kendal United Reserves to a 2-0 win at Langwathby United, Windermere SC Reserves picked up a surprise 3-2 penalty shoot out win over Shap, Braithwaite routed Wetherigg United Reserves 5-1, while Cameron Ball and Kyran Betram edged Keswick Reserves to a 2-1 win at Greystoke.

Castletown United picked up the biggest win of the round with a 7-3 victory at Ullswater United, Lamin Cham with a hat trick, while a brace by Ewan Willacy and a goal by Macauley Forsyth completed the scoring.

Lunesdale United picked up a 3-1 home win over AFC Carlisle, Endmoor KGR Reserves came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Penrith Academy, Scott O Callaghan, Sam Wilson and Bradley Hodgson with the goals.

In the other cup ties, Ambleside Town routed Penrith Saints 9-0, while Penrith Town routed Ambleside United Reserves 10-0.

Meanwhile in the only Westmorland League Division Three game played, Burneside Reserves edged to a 2-1 win at Penrith Royal. Burneside now up to seventh in the table.
