A SOUTH Lakeland motorcyclist suffered ‘life-changing’ injuries when her bike was in collision with a car at Farleton on Friday afternoon.

The 53-year-old Kendal woman sustained a broken pelvis and femur as well as other minor fractures when she was thrown from her black Honda VFR 800 bike after it was in collision with an Audi A3 at the junction of Hornby Road and Farleton Old Road at around 3.05pm.

She was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Audi, a 48-year-old woman, is not believed to have suffered any injuries.

Police believe the Audi was travelling in the direction of Hornby and had begun to turn right onto Farleton Old Road when it was in collision with the motorbike, which was travelling in the same direction.

Sergeant Nigel Ralphson, of Lancashire's Roads Policing Unit, said: “This collision has left a motorcyclist with several very nasty injuries and we would like to piece together exactly what happened.

“If you saw the incident, or saw either of the vehicles in the moments before the collision, please get in touch.”

In particular, officers would like to speak to anybody who saw the motorcyclist - who was wearing a distinctive pink, hi-vis tabard - shortly before the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lancashire Police on 101.
