Jordan Jenkinson, 23, and 24-year-old Christopher Procter admitted causing Mr Machon grievous bodily harm.

They accepted being part of a joint enterprise in which the injuries were caused.

Jenkinson, of Romney Gardens, Kendal, was jailed for a total of two years and four months having also admitted a number of separate drugs and motoring crimes.

These included being concerned in making an offer to supply cannabis, and driving while disqualified.

Procter, of Hayclose Road, Kendal, received a two-year prison sentence.

However, this was suspended for two years by Judge Hughes QC, who heard of Procter's positive progress in response to previous problems.
