HIKES that appeal to all ages and abilities will be a feature of Ulverston's 18th WalkFest, which this year will be held over ten days from Saturday, April 22 to Monday, May 1.

Many walks take in local and industrial history and give walkers an insight into the rich heritage of the area, with the option of trekking to Swarthmoor Hall, the Leven Valley heritage sites and exploring historic Ulverston.

MORE TOP STORIES:

Other walks take advantage of the surrounding hills and Lakeland fells visiting Arnside, Tarn Hows, Walowbarrow Gorge and the Dunnerdale fells. There is also the opportunity to acquire new skills by taking part in rambles offering map reading skills, sketching and Nordic walking.

Each walk will be led by a volunteer, local walk leader and wherever possible the starting point has been fixed so that it can be reached using public transport.
