THREE fire engines from Penrith and Keswick attended a report of four people being stranded on an island at Thirlmere, Keswick.
Emergency services attended at 6.51am on Sunday (March 19) and fire crews used an inflatable boat with a motor, salvage sheets and lifejackets to rescue the four casualties, passing them to the care of paramedics.
Two casualties were taken to hospital for further medical checks. Fire crews were in attendance for approximately two hours and twenty minutes.
